TI - the Global Coalition against Corruption

Transparency International, the global coalition against corruption, is a non-profit, politically non-partisan, non-governmental organization dedicated to increasing government accountability and curbing both international and national corruption. TI - Philippine Chapter is one of the over 120 national chapters of Transparency International with Main Office in Berlin.

Our movement has multiple concerns:

Humanitarian, as corruption undermines and distorts development and leads to increasing levels of human rights abuse;

Democratic, as corruption undermines democracies and in particular the achievements of many developing countries and countries in transition;

Ethical, as corruption undermines a society's integrity; and

Practical, as corruption distorts the operations of markets and deprives ordinary people of the benefits which should flow from them.

The CPI 2003

TI's Corruption Perception Index for the year 2003 ranks 133 countries including the Philippines. Access it in our "Newsletter" page or click here.

ã TI-Philippines - 2002

Our Mission Statement

To curb corruption by mobilising a global coalition to promote and strengthen international and national Integrity Systems and by instituting changes in the moral values of the people whether in government, private sector or civil society.

Fighting corruption sustainably is only possible with the involvement of all the stakeholders:  the state, civil society and the private sector.

Through our National Chapters we bring together people of integrity in civil society, business and government to work as coalitions for systemic reforms.

TI does not "name names" nor attack individuals but focus on building systems that combat corruption.

We play an important role in raising public awareness and our Corruption Perceptions Index (C.P.I.)  has triggered meaningful reform in many countries.
